You agree to use the Web Publishing Guide blog only for lawful purposes and in a manner that does not infringe the rights of or restrict or inhibit the use and enjoyment of the blog by any other party. This includes conduct that is unlawful or may harass, cause distress or inconvenience to another person, the transmission of obscene or offensive content or disruption to the blog.

You must not post or transmit via the blog any unlawful, defamatory, obscene, offensive or scandalous material, or any material that constitutes or encourages conduct that would contravene any law.

Australian Government employees should consider the Interim Protocols for Online Media Participation issued by the Australian Public Service Commission before they comment.

In particular, any APS employees providing feedback in an official capacity or as officially authorised by their agency should:

“disclose their position and status and the fact that they are authorised to communicate an official viewpoint;

that intellectual property, copyright and privacy issues need to be taken into account”

Any APS employees providing feedback in their capacity as a private citizen should:

“avoid any comment that might be interpreted as an official statement on behalf of your agency or that might compromise perceptions of your ability to do your job in an unbiased and professional manner. You should also be careful about posting comment or material that might bring the APS into disrepute”

A moderator has discretion to remove comments if they:

  • Contain defamatory material against any business, individual or group.
  • Name or could potentially identify any individual.
  • Make derogatory comments about individuals, groups or organisations.
  • Disrespect other users.
  • Are posted multiple times – all bar one will be removed.
  • Contain abusive or offensive language.
  • Contain heated arguments that become personal or unrelated to the topic.
  • Have no relevance to the topic being discussed.
  • Link to other websites that are not relevant to the discussion or breach the acceptable use policy.
  • Promote commercial interests.
